Cosmetic Update
A cosmetic update is a simple way to revive your kitchen space without doing an entire kitchen makeover. This can include replacing appliances or countertops, or just laying a new floor. Maybe adding a backsplash, some new lighting, or repainting would spruce up the space, or some combination of any of these. Sometimes a few modifications can make a big impact on the given space. The benefits to this type of update are that they can often be accomplished with a smaller budget in a relatively short period of time with minimal disruption to you and your family.
Remove and Replace Remodel
A remove and replace remodel is pretty much exactly as it sounds. Everything in the kitchen (flooring, cabinets, appliances, etc.) is updated and replaced in the original layout. With this type of renovation, no walls are moved or removed and no new design is necessary. You can still achieve dramatic transformation with this type of remodel simply by installing new materials. This can be a great way to update an out-of-date kitchen with a floor plan that still works well for you and your home.
Custom Kitchen Renovation
A custom kitchen renovation typically includes replacing all components of the kitchen that were described in the above remodel as well as reconfiguring or expanding the space. Sometimes with a custom kitchen renovation, walls between adjoining rooms are moved or removed to gain more space. A lot of times this type of remodel includes an addition or bump out. At the very least, the existing kitchen space is changed to incorporate more floor or counter space, extra appliances, or open into another room. Custom renovations are design intensive and most likely involve a new flow for a portion of the first floor of your home.
